Hello All-
I’m very glad to announce that I am finally releasing the first single and music video from my current project!
The video for “Acorn Springs” was filmed early one fall morning in 2020. I teamed with Yugen Productions (Knoxville, TN) to shoot the video at a beautiful scenic outlook in Maryville, TN. After a short hike with music gear on our backs, Look Rock Tower placed us above the morning fog, with an incredible view stretching from Clingman’s Dome and Mt. LeConte, to Knoxville on the opposing horizon. The experience was remarkable, and the shots we captured were amazing.
The song, “Acorn Springs,” is much more about a feeling than it is about a place. I’ve always had a passion for the outdoors, the environment, and the impact they can have on one’s mental health. The name “Acorn Springs” was taken from a sign along a rural route often followed on aimless drives with friends while at Maryville College. No attachment, other than the sentiment of those cruises, lies with the name, but it has become a sort of fictional place- an ideal, that lies somewhere in the mountains of Appalachia.
I am very excited to finally release this song. It was a huge break for me in terms of musical style and arrangement. Of course accompanied by Michael Adcox (drums), and Billy Reed (bass), I also had the honor of working with John Durham (banjo), and Robert Gowan (fiddle). Thanks to Nathan Dominey (and Vince Morse) for the upright bass. The sessions at Greer Castle Recording Room (Greer, S.C.) took place from December 2019 through 2020, with 2021 dedicated to mixing and mastering. Much thanks to Greer Castle, Nick Brown, and Ryan Lara. For the video, we also received crucial last-minute help from Drew Fisher and Jesse Lee filling in on banjo/fiddle respectively. Many thanks to everyone involved for helping me see this to light.
